An editor position for Genome Stability & Disease (GID)at Shenzhen University

Ifyou love biomedical science and enjoy evaluating manuscripts but are ready fora career away from the bench, you could be the person we’re looking for to jointhe editorial team of the newly established journal, Genome Instability& Disease (GID), published by Springer Nature.

GIDis an official publication of the Shenzhen University School of Medicine inChina and the Fondazione Istituto FIRC di Oncologia Molecolare (IFOM) in Milan,Italy. It publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed original research papers, shortcommunications, and review articles on the molecular mechanisms underlyinggenome stability maintenance and human diseases associated with genomeinstability and the relevant therapeutic applications. In particular, GIDpublishes novel data regarding the regulatory mechanisms of genome stability,including epigenetic and post-translational modifications, and the DNA damageresponse and its association with the inheritance of mutations that contributeto genetic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and ageing.

Tobe considered for the position, you must have:

Ø  A PhD in the biomedical or medical sciences, with expertise in DNArepair, genome biology, genome stability and its associated diseases, orrelated areas. Some postdoctoral research experience is desirable.

Ø  A breadth of interest in scientific research, both within andbeyond your specialty.

Ø  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent inEnglish (both written and spoken).

Ø  The ability to read and assess the novelty, context andimplications of research submitted to the journal from the different areas ofthis discipline.

Ø  Be eager to travel and meet scientists worldwide, learn more aboutthem and their research, and help them learn more about us and what we arelooking for in the papers we seek to publish.

Ø  Please note that previous editorial experience at a professionaljournal is required for candidates seeking a Senior position.

Thesuccessful candidate will report to the Chief Editors, and have an importantrole in helping the chiefs shape the future of the journal. They will handleoriginal research papers, and work closely with other editors on all aspects ofthe editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peerreview. The ability to recommend well-reasoned editorial decisions on submittedmanuscripts in the light of expert advice is crucial. They will liaiseextensively with editors at other journals in the Springer Nature family, andother experts in the international scientific community.

Thisis a full-time permanent position, located in Shenzhen, China. You will beprovided with an internationally highly competitive salary package and,potentially, a generous tax-free housing subsidy from the Shenzhen MunicipalGovernment through the Peacock Program. 职位要求:

Ø  生物医学或医学科学博士,具有DNA修复,基因组生物学,基因组稳定性及其相关疾病或相关领域的专业知识

Ø  至少2年的博士后研究经验

Ø  对科学研究具有广泛的兴趣,无论是在你的专业内外

Ø  良好的沟通和人际交往能力,能流利使用英语(书面和口语)

Ø  能够阅读并评估从该学科的不同领域提交给期刊的研究稿件的新颖性、背景和影响

Ø  具有熟练运用计算机处理英文稿件和图表的能力;能够熟练运用网络并对信息进行分析

Ø  能够经常出差并与世界各地的科学家会面,了解他们的研究并争取稿源

Ø  高级职位的候选人需要具有编辑经验

获聘者将向主编和执行主编报告和负责,在帮助主编塑造期刊未来方向发挥重要作用。他们将处理原创研究论文、综述、简短通信和评论文章,并与编辑过程的各个方面密切合作,包括选稿和监督同行评审。根据专家建议,向主编推荐合理的编辑决策。他们将与SpringerNature家族其他期刊的编辑以及国际科学界的其他专家进行广泛的联络。
